Official Loon Conservation Partners
Score! The National Loon Center and Minnesota United Football Club have teamed up to form an Official Loon Conservation Partnership. This long-term partnership has lots in store for fans of both sports and wildlife, linking the loons of the lakes to the Loons of the pitch.
Great Lawn Activations
The NLC will be joining MNUFC’s other partners for a pregame party before a few games this year. Come visit us on the 25,000-square-foot park outside Allianz Field to talk about loons before going in to cheer them on! Here’s when you can find us on the Great Lawn:

Loon Calling Contest
We have an exciting opportunity for loon callers. The National Loon Center and Minnesota United will team up to find the looniest fan through the annual Loon Call Contest. Finalists will face off for the championship on the pitch at Allianz Field during a Minnesota United match!
Drake Callender Visits
To further extend the reach of our partnership, the National Loon Center was honored to invite and host Minnesota United goalkeeper Drake Callender for a day at the National Loon Center. Drake and his family spent the morning on the Loon Pontoon helping to lead the Junior Loon Biologist tour and see the loons out on Cross Lake before hosting a live reading in The Nest of two books in his Mindfulness Expedition series, “X Marks the Spot” and “L’s Way.” Thanks for a great day, Drake!
"Behind the Loon" Series
The National Loon Center is a sponsor of the “Behind the Loon” video series – a storytelling series surrounding Minnesota United’s culture, fandom, and community – both on and off the pitch. This video, “The Countdown,” went behind the scenes as the Loons staff and players prepared for the 2026 season.
